The monthly menstrual cycle is a biological process that every woman experiences during the peak years of her life. Surprisingly, one in every seven women is completely unaware of "what" the body goes through during every monthly cycle.

This is an alarming concern in itself, which calls for urgent attention because if women do not know the "what", "how", and "why" of menstruation, they will never be able to experience a healthy period. No doubt, some women; even today, continue to detest periods, while others await menopause.


Brand Avni’s Take on the Scenario:

As a responsible and women-centric menstrual hygiene brand, the number one priority for Brand Avni has always been to educate women and create awareness about the monthly menstrual cycle that they experience. Needless to say, it is easy to float a brand and get women into buying your products by rolling out attractive marketing gimmicks.

However, this is where women's safety and well-being get compromised.

Owing to the same, Ms. Sujata Pawar, the Woman behind Brand Avni, decided to "BE THE CHANGE" and establish AVNI as the “FACE OF CHANGE” by taking the reins in her hands.

The number one priority was to reach out to women and initiate a solid, free-flowing conversation. A conversation that is information-driven, friendly, and easily consumable.

With this came into being "Avni’s Awareness-based Menstrual Sessions," which are all for raising awareness across schools, colleges, and corporates, while being absolutely groundwork intensive.

So far, Avni has successfully conducted 15 such sessions, which have proved extremely helpful in raising awareness.

One of the biggest achievements through these sessions has been to GIVE WOMEN A VOICE.

In the many years that we have been active in this industry, we have observed that women's voices in this matter have been suppressed, which has left them ignorant about menstrual cycles and related hygiene.

You must know that Avni's sessions have created ripples of change and revolution by opening closed doors and giving an outlet to women where they can come forward and have their questions answered without feeling awkward or judged.

As someone who believes in adopting a realistic approach, Sujata Pawar, the Founder of Brand Avni, has been passionate about reaching out to women to address their menstrual problems and offer solutions.

After a lot of brainstorming and experimentation, she concluded that it was necessary to introduce "Awareness-based Menstrual Sessions," where one-to-one connections could be developed and information disseminated.

She has had some common and some distinct experiences while conducting these sessions, which she has attempted to share in her own words.

For as long as I can remember, I have been keen on conducting menstrual sessions, where I could interact with women, provide the necessary information, beat stigmas and taboos and take questions. Finally, I have been able to achieve this milestone. However, I wish to take these sessions to every school, college, and corporate to a point where I can reach every woman in India.

Lack of Awareness

Through these sessions, I could easily mark that awareness about menstruation was quite low and in some cases negligible, be it about the process, physical and mental parameters, and of course internal and external factors.


Willingness to Learn & Gather Information

I have gathered first-hand experiences, in fact, countless ones, where women have expressed deep interest in learning about menstruation and the scientific facts that surround this process. It is not like they are disinterested in learning, just that they are keen to learn from a credible source.

Challenge to Break the Ice

In these sessions, it is not like women open up the moment I step in. It takes time and most importantly patience on my part. I make sure that I have an approachable stance. This approach has helped me in breaking the ice with most women, who by the end of the session, come forward to ask questions not just about menstruation alone but more so ever about the many allied topics.

Building Trust and Being Approachable

I can confidently state that through every session that I have conducted, I have been able to bust myths primarily because of personal contact and one-to-one dialogue.

Positive about spending higher

My biggest realization in these sessions has been that women do not mind spending or investing in expensive products as long as these products provide holistic value and benefits. Personal hygiene and health are a priority for women, over and above the monetary quotient.


So far, I have had a fulfilling experience conducting sessions like these, and I look forward to reaching the remotest of areas to take my message to every woman seeking a helping hand.
